Here is my report of a free weekend Seminar with Wealth Guru Stuart Zadel of TGR (Think and Grow Rich). It is a mind boggling experience. He is a clever seminar promoter / stage host and so he just warms up his guests and captures their minds. His presenters do the hard sales talk while Stuart entertains his guests with stories and self discovery and works his magic literally. After we sober up a little from our dreams and face the price tag its time to go on line. Stuart appears to be a man with a mission and I did noticed a Landmark style mission glow on his staff and that army of volunteers. What he really sells is the dream of self development with success in anybody's reach. Develop a burning desire, dream big and then go all out and make it from the bottom to the top of the pyramide. Land mark runs self development courses and they have a bit of a cultish feel about them. Its maybe the fact that there are so many happy volunteers on board that makes me suspect some indoctrination. He does a stage performance with an arrow - its magical. When later asked about his belief system there are no straight answers. It remains a mystery - go figure. And it runs from 9 to 7. So the vibes have plenty of time to catch up with you. Now what's the takeaway for me. I did end up spending money in partnering with 3 others, but that was a flop. It seems that the courses are attracting lazy people and loosers that like a free lunch. We still run a modestly successful ebay family business, that is hard work and the ebay magic course in my opinion is overpriced and sub standard. I found better training courses online for $80. They had Dominique Grubisa on stage, a Lawyer. Very interesting, eye opening and worthwhile to listen, but quite depressing when you realize how vulnerable your little possessions are and that you don't have the will and money to protect them. She seems to be fair dinkum. She actually posted on this site with an honest response to some strong criticism. Bonus points for her ! We watched the business renovators businessrenovators. See also http://bizrenovators.com/fix-my-business/ They use Alexa.com to analyze their competitors and recommend marketing to a red hot niche. Any business must start with due diligence and competitor analysis online and offline. My personal take away in self discovery was that in practical terms I am in a majority group of people that would prefer to earn $70k while having $60k friends over earning $80k and having $90k friends. Stuart Zadel actually did not sell anything himself. He gave things away, paying it forward in the firm belief that the universe will pay him back. I love this philosophy especially in others. Maybe its time to buy into that a little myself. He then bothered to hand out little bows of appreciation, 3 of them. I did nothing with mine so far. Funny thing for me as a Christian the pay it forward should come natural. Christ did it to us so that we would extend it (pass it on to others). |

Investing in real estate is as advantageous and as attractive as investing in the stock market. I would say it has three times more prospects of making money than any other business.

The cost to acquire, hold and dispose of property is significantly more with property over paper assets, and then you add the risks of tenants, real estate agents, etc. You also then have to understand it as a different asset class. Property is not very liquid and provides little diversity. You buy a property in the wrong suburb, street, estate or building and that is your whole investment undiverisifed exposed (assuming 1 property). Leverage is only useful to those who know how to use it for maximal gain.

I must say its quite a surprise to stumble across all this negative feedback about Stuart Zadel and his friends. Personally I have attended a couple of his training weekends (leadership + experience) and they were absolutely amiaising. I have also invested in Cherie Barbers Renovating course and Daniel Kertchers Forex program. Both of which have made my money back and more and I intend to replace my income rather than being in construction. I believe Zadel offers only the best, sure people havn't succeeded with their idea of get rich quick packs but how much time have they dedicated to them? It is a lot of hard work but I must say, when a couple of Forex trades head your way making you 1000s of percent on your margin, or you strike your 1st property deal that makes you 50K+ you soon wake up and listen!!

I went to a TGR Seminar and saw Dominique, I bought her package and from then on it was all down hill. People including her forget to get back to me, for days, the office didn't pass on messages, it was excuse after excuse, for over a year and it never got any better, all this before anything got set up. I finally thought it's not worth it but was told there are no refunds by the TGR department, looks like we have to continue working together not getting what we want. Buyer Beware they won't refund your money, once its gone, its gone and it doesn't mean you'll get what you paid for.

That's right Tony. Let's face it when it comes to outdoing the pack with clever money making schemes there is always an element of dream selling (easy money) , greed and speculation (gambling) involved. Talking gold rush - good point - the GFC comes to mind. The dream sellers made the money and the masses foot the bill.

I also attended this weekend Sept 13. However me & my brother left after the 1st break. We have been to a number of these seminars over past few years & it became obvious that this one was no different. They play on people's emotion & then try to sell them the dream of success.

Funny I also went to the Adelaide TGR seminar 'nov2013' I was very keen to do Dominique course. I sent email to her co. with 5 or 6 very specific questions about her course. The reply which I received did not answer even one of my questions but just said The course probably wasn't right for me becauseI was too sceptical

Yeah there was all the classic sales techniques as mentioned above I felt a bit that way and my wife had a bit of buyers remorse after we were one of several people signing up for the assets protection package of Dominique Grubisa. Sure I would of felt more comfortable being able to think it over more and learn more but at the end of the day we saw value in it and had been considering about the topic (asset protection) for some time, we "forgave" the "hard sell" tactics (that in my opinion cheapen the feel of it somewhat) because we saw it as basically good value and a fit for us. It was presented clearly and we feel we understand what we were buying. Maybe I am just justifying it because we forked out for it but I guess the proof will be in the pudding. So far, 48 hours later we are very pleased with our decision to "go for it", we bought then and there because a discount was offered (classic and time honoured technique). There was definite encouragement to buy recklessly and it seems Zadel offers no returns policy beyond statutory consumer protection which I believe includes cooling off period. Personally I think if there was a stated no questions 2 weeks money back offer or something similar before we received any proprietary info, for me it would seem like a better product and would sell better, diffusing a lot of sceptics BS radars, but Zadel l system might come from selling personal training, hopefully it will evolve to include such. I will post back unbiased (as best I can) feedback if the package is far below or above what I expect of it.

Max, did you attend the full day session with Dominique Grubisa in Brisbane, on 11th Feb? I was there too. I nearly signed up for the Real Estate Rescue course, but felt I needed time to consider. Sent an email via Grubisa's website, with some questions I needed clarifying, but no response as yet, but early days. Max, I would be very interested to hear your experience of dealing with Grubisa's organisation, thank you so much.

This has been an interesting thread to read, as I am going to a one day Dominique Grubisia event tomorrow! I have been to a few TGR weekends before and even used some services that were presented, as well as a few from Knowledge Source as well so I know I am going to expect the "sales pitch" at the end. I even said to one of my mates last night that "the real course will be about 5 or 6 grand"...

I notice the comments made about Dominique Grubisa. Be very careful. Her parents were NSW solicitors who were struck off for various offenses relating to the misappropriation of client funds. According to court transcripts some of the money went into a bank account controlled by Dominique and her father later lied about this. Her father spent about 9 months in prison for it. Just do a google search on Christopher Fitzsimons and Maria Fitzsimons. One article can be found here: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/lawyer-bet-14m-in-five-years/2008/06/30/1214677946027.html

I can not see reference to Dominic Grubisa in the story, can you evidence that they are the same person? If it is I can see it as a good inspiration to become a crusader for debt reduction systems. Search Dominic Grubisa on you tube.

We received a package from her business (we have bought the asset protection product) the other week which was two draft publications, the main one being a hefty document "Your essential DIY legal survival guide" which covers both the ins and outs of the asset protection system in pretty straightforward language, as well as a more detailed explanation of buying distressed assets (which the other product is built around) and background information. Its a good read following on from hearing DG speak and I am still working my way through it.

Hi Novi, we have not acted upon it at all yet. In that sense we haven't got any value from it and probably should not have bought it at that time. My wife regrets buying it but I have a long term view that we will make good use of it. We think it might be more suited if you have more than one property (we don't, we were looking at investment property then a baby came along so it all changed) or any business etc. That might not be the case (anything can happen right?) but we just haven't got around to acting on the advice yet so it's hard to give more opinion. It's on my long 'to do' list. A will was part of the package (quite important) but we have that free already from our teachers union deal. Basically I think it is solid stuff if you would use it. Come to think of it, being on one income now puts us at more financial risk so I should move it up my to do list.

Thanks guys I take your word for it, is there anything there on DG herself? Besides her fathers shenanigans (chronic gambler). She is a barrister so I imagine her name might come up a lot on transcripts and during her preso she details an all out legal battle she got into and lost that was the inspiration for her asset protection venture.

Thank you to everyone here who has left comments about Stuart and Dominique's courses. The Stuart Zadel 'Ultimate Property Conference' is on in Sydney this coming weekend. I was planning on attending. As it is a two hour drive from home I would be booking a motel for the two day event. Despite searching on-line at property forums and review sites I have been unable to come up with more than one or two positive comments about the courses or seminars. I have however found post after post, in various forums and sites, from people who have been disappointed. Buyer beware they say and this is ringing alarm bells for me. Thanks to everyone who has posted as it has helped me to make a decision.

I haven't engaged in the discussion recently to stay clear of defamation notices. In general caution is required. I would suggest that joining a property investors club may help with getting answers or talking to other attendees off stage. And a course with a 30 days money back guarantee would be my preference.

I agree that one has to be very careful about taking too much from the great success stories you see on these forums. I know from experience that more often than not these comments are often posted by the spruikers themselves, or their minions.
I know for a fact the information Dominique teaches works. I have friends who are full time real estate investors using her strategies. It's a very powerful strategy but you need to put in the work and never give up.

Hi, I'm currently in the middle of a nightmare situation caused by the failure of the Dominique Grubisa (DG Institute) Real Estate Rescue take over product - specifically the supposedly irrevocable power of attorney. As graduates of the RER program we had Dominique's law firm prepare all of the documents for a takeover deal (her flagship distressed property method), only to find out that the irrevocable POA was revocable the very first time it was challenged on our project. We've since discovered there's no case law precedent to prove the DGI POA is irrevocable (despite the assurances by Dominique we have audio recording of). The governments of all 5 mainland states (QLD, NSW, Vic, SA, WA) have all said the DGI POA is revocable and that anyone using it needs to be prepared to lawyer up and go to court (despite the assurances by Dominique that this isn't the case). In blowing the whistle we have been defamed 3 times now by Dominique - despite presenting the evidence that proves what she's saying are lies. We also have in writing from Dominique that because, in her opinion, the government is wrong then the losses suffered fall at our feet. That's like buying a car from a manufacturer who then says, 'the airbag in the car I'm selling should work in theory - but if it doesn't the loss of life, injury or cost to you as the consumer is your problem and not mine'. Honestly, who would buy a car from that manufacturer. Dominique Grubisa is now under investigation by the NSW Law Society and the NSW Office of the Legal Services Commissioner for professional misconduct.

They rely on people (who don't recognise victim behaviour in themselves) buying the courses. They don't mention anything about stamp duty on selling investment properties, builders costs for structural renovations, the fact that you have to knock on some poor buggers door to by there distressed door.
