The Block has taken a huge turnaround in 2012. After the dismal auction results in 2011 the scales have tipped the opposite way. Buying a set of Terrace houses and auctioning them off separately is a great investment strategy. But there is more to it. This year reserve prices where fixed to strongly favor contestants and win viewers. The channel was probably making a loss on the houses to make a huge profit from advertising. For example the channel was spending its own money to re-frame the terrace houses. Who after all wants to watch or sponsor a biggest looser show ? Here is an article from DOMAIN that explains what was going on. And don't forget to visit WIKI. to compare auction results across the years. |
